More About Dave

Pittsburgh born and bred, Dave fell in love with the entertainment industry at an early age. His mother, Dolores, a performer in her own right, inspired the three King kids – Dave, Patrice and Brett – to perform musical skits for friends and family at an early age. (She did an excellent job – they’re all in the business.) Starting with piano at age 8, Centers for Musically Talented in high school, in addition to Pittsburgh’s All City Choir and All City Orchestra, majoring in music education at Penn State University seemed to complete the natural progression for this talented performer. Teaching, coaching and directing the high school musicals was great for a few years, but Dave yearned for more. Performing was his first love, so off to New York he went and began training to be a professional actor – and a professional actor he became!

For more than 20 years, Dave has captivated audiences from coast to coast in virtually every performance medium available – film, Broadway, soaps, commercials, voice overs and television – especially television. He is a dynamic, funny, articulate and charismatic African American male with a loyal following. As an Actor, Dave continues to appear in hit television programs including The Cosby Show, Law and Order, Hack, Party Down, The Event, Chuck and Criminal Minds. But wait, there’s more…

Dave began his career as a Host, working for HBO Entertainment News. He followed that with a stint as the host of Nine Broadcast Plaza on WWOR in New York, and for nearly 14 years, Dave was one of the top Program Hosts on QVC. Dave interviewed superstars in the world of music, television, motion pictures, and sports – a list that includes Earth Wind and Fire, Diana Ross, Lionel Ritchie, Suze Orman, Shania Twain, Donald Trump, Neil Diamond, Vanessa Williams, and Joan Rivers. All tolled, Dave has logged more than 10,000 hours of live television. Live – no cue cards, no teleprompter, no second takes. That’s more than Jay Leno and David Letterman combined!

Most recently, Dave has taken his hosting expertise to ShopNBC, the #1 premiere lifestyle electronic retailer in the world. He also can be seen around the country in commercials, infomercials, and as Dr. Cool Tech – introducing America to the latest and coolest consumer electronics items available.

Dave holds a Bachelor of Science degree from The Pennsylvania State University, where he played Free Safety for the legendary Joe Paterno. He has three children, Dylan, his older son, Devin his younger son, and Demi, his daughter.

In addition to his many broadcast duties, Dave works extensively with, and is a member of, the Board of Directors for The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
